Dysart Airport

Dysart Airport is a private facility, used only by general aviation private pilots, charter companies, and emergency services. It is operated by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance near the town of Dysart, a mining town in Central Queensland. The rural town has about 3,200 people living northwest of Rockhampton, by about 240 km. The Saraji and Norwich Park are open cut coalmines that employ the majority of the residents of the town. In the late 1970s, a Utah conglomerate began building the town, which is located 25 km south of their mine.. The town is designed around a Garden Plaza, with the shopping centre in the middle. Civic buildings and a community centre are adjacent to the shops. Dysart Airport is in the Isaac Region. It was discovered when Ludwig Leichhardt, a Prussian explorer, climbed to the top of Campbells Peak, nearby. Today, there is a golf course, bowling club, a hospital, a branch shire office, and a community learning centre in the town. The median personal income in the Dysart Airport area is the highest in Queensland, as of the early 2000s. There are rumors that the Norwich Park coalmine will cease to exist in 2013.

Norwich Park Mines Day

The mining conglomerate hosts Norwich Park Mines day in order to explain the mining industry and make the public more aware of its contributions to the Dysart Airport area. There is a monument at the north town entrance. It is a truck with a coal wagon memorializing the contribution of the coal and rail industries to the location. In addition to the celebration, Dysart, near the Dysart Airport, is home to the Rugby League Dysart Bulls.

Rugby and High School

High school fetes are a huge attraction in small towns, and the Dysart State High School holds such a function once a year. The school of two hundred students is dedicated to providing a good time for all those attending. The Dysart Bulls of the Rugby League play about six home games a year, and welcome visitors at any time. Their team colors are white, black, and red.
