Visit Melbourne for the Australian Open

The Australia Open is held in Melbourne, Australia for two weeks in January every year. The Australian Open is one of the four grand slams held on the ATP tour each year. It is played on a hard court at Melbourne Park. The Australian Open is the first grand slam played each year on the ATP world tour. The open was first held in 1905. It features both Men and Women’s singles titles. Also there is men’s, women’s and mixed doubles events. Plus Junior, wheelchair, exhibition and legends events. Lead up events to the tour include the Kooyong Classic, also held in Melbourne as well as the Brisbane International, the International Sydney Tennis Tournament and the Hopman Cup held in Perth.

Within the tennis area, there is plenty more to see then just tennis. There are all sorts of entertainment options in the area around the tennis arenas. Live music in the evenings. There are two big screens if you are wanting to watch some of the big matches with a ground pass. There are lots of shops and various tennis related games to play. There is also plenty in the way of things to eat and drink.

Getting there

Hire a car from Tullamarine airport and drive to the Tennis. The drive will take you about half an hour. Parking for the Australian Open is located at Yarra Park via Gate 3 and Gate 5 (day sessions only).
